Brainwavz Hooka Specifications:

Build Quality

The Hooka takes cues from the Truss and has an all-metal die-cast aluminum body. The same matte finishing completes the look of the Hooka. It has the same sturdiness that you see on the Truss.

It comes with a 3M VHB Tape that allows you to mount the hangar onto any vertical surfaces easily. However, do take note the proper steps in applying the adhesive tape as this will greatly affect the adhesiveness of the tape. The tape model used is 3M™ VHB™ 4991. This tape is suitable for most surfaces as seen in the table below. From the official 3M website

Ergonomics

The Hooka has a metal plate that measures 46mm x 78mm, secured tightly by two screws. The metal plate is much wider than what you get from the Truss and it definitely fits all size of headband that you can throw at it. The metal plate is also curved to ergonomically fit the shape of the headband. This reduces the chance of wear and tear for pleather headband.

Since the mounting plate is at the back, there is no problem hanging our headphone on the hangar without looking at it.

Conclusion

So which one will we pick? The Brainwavz Truss or the Brainwavz Hooka? It depends. Both have great build quality and provides the industrial strength 3M VHB Tape as a mounting tape. But they do solve a slightly different needs. If we need to hang more headphones and does not have a suitable wall to mount, we will pick Truss. But if we prefer the headphones to be mounted on a vertical surface for easier access, the Hooka will be our preferred choice.
